Bryn Virkler, Marketing Content Program Manager for Paychex

Where do you work, and what do you do?
I currently work as a Marketing Content Program Manager at Paychex. In this role, I partner with internal stakeholders to create strong and effective marketing messaging for the purpose of acquiring prospects and retaining Paychex clients.

What women inspire you and why?
I am inspired by countless women daily but right now I am jiving on Shonda Rhimes. I just finished her book, Year of Yes. The life lessons she presents in this book are all about self love which were inspiring to me as a women, how we all need to have a little “SWAGGER” in our life. According to Shonda, this is the practice of knowing one’s own accomplishments and gifts and celebrating them. Who doesn't strive to live life this way?

What kind of activities, programs, and/or volunteer opportunities are you engaged in?
In my spare time I volunteer as Co-chair of the Women's Council Program Committee, Diversity Committee for PRSA Rochester and serve on the Grant Making Committee for the Women’s Foundation of Genesee Valley.

An exciting volunteer opportunity I have been involved with this year is called De-Feet ALS, which is a nonprofit started by my Uncle, Steve Luther. This group will be running from Rochester to Boston in July to raise money for ALS research in honor of my grandfather, Raymond Luther.

Why do you think it's important to be involved in the Women's Council?
I think it is important to be involved in the Women’s Council because of the personal and professional connections you can make. I have had the privilege to connect with a fabulous group of women who inspire and empower each other. As a young professional, it has been a wonderful experience to meet many seasoned professionals who have now turned into mentors.

What do you do when you aren't working? What do you like to do for fun?
I love to do anything sports related in my spare time so you might find me at yoga or crossfit, spending time with my husband, Brad, or cuddled up on the couch with my two, crazy dog children, Mia and Charlie.
